One of the cool features of Leopard was the addition of CalDAV support to iCal, which allows you to read/write/edit/delete calendars hosted by third parties like Google Calendar. Similar functionality was available on the iPhone, but only via Apple’s MobileMe service. That’s changed with iPhone OS 3.0.

If you’ve configured a bunch of CalDAV calendars in iCal, unfortunately they’re synced to the iPhone as read-only calendars which is a real pain. In lieu of a fix by Apple, we’ll need to remove the iCal CalDAV accounts from the iTunes calendar sync list, and configure them on the iPhone itself.

To set up a new CalDAV account, you’ll need to navigate through the following screens on your iPhone:

Settings → Mail, Contacts, Calendars → Add Account… → Other → Add CalDAV Account…

Once you’re there, you’ll be presented with a dialogue that lets you enter a CalDAV server, username, password and description. This dialogue is incredibly misleading, because the “server” field will not only accept a hostname like “www.google.com”, but also a full CalDAV URL like “https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/<CALENDAR_ID>/user”. If you’re using Google Calendar with only one calendar, enter your Google Calendar credentials like the following example:

If you’ve got multiple CalDAV calendars, it starts to get a little bit hairier. Initially, I emailed myself a list of my CalDAV URLs (4 in total) and used the new copy-paste features to manually configure each account using the previous instructions, only instead of using “www.google.com” in the server field, I pasted the entire CalDAV URL instead. As you can imagine, this is incredibly tedious.

Fortunately Apple also released a new version of the iPhone Configuration Utility (ICU), which is a really handy tool for creating iPhone configuration bundles for deployment in enterprise environments. Among other things, this new version allows you to configure CalDAV accounts. If you haven’t already, you should grab a copy of ICU for OS X or Windows.

Launch ICU, create a new configuration profile, and open the CalDAV pane. For each CalDAV calendar you want to configure, you’re going to want to fill it in like this:

If you’re looking at the Principal URL field and wondering what ”<CAL_ID>” is, you’ll find it in the calendar settings page of Google Calendar under Calendar Address (it should look like an email address).

Once you’ve entered all your CalDAV accounts, plug in your iPhone, select it in ICU and open the Configuration Profiles tab. You should see the configuration profile you just created, with an “Install” button next to it. Hit the “Install” button.

You iPhone should show a screen like this:

If you hit “More Details”, you’ll see the CalDAV calendars listed:

Hit “Install”, confirm, and open up the Calendar App to see if everything works as expected. You should be able to create, edit and delete calendar entries in your CalDAV accounts, and have them update in iCal / Google Calendar. If you ever want to add a new CalDAV calendar, I think you need to remove the configuration via the iPhone Configuration Utility and re-install the edited configuration bundle.

Hopefully it doesn’t take too long for Apple to make the CalDAV integration between iCal and the iPhone more seamless.

  1. Julian Says:

Thanks for that! Thanks to copy and post it didnt take too long to configure my three caldav calendars!

Mentioning the correct URL was helpful, as i firstly forgot the /user at the end!

    cheers

  2. Nic Wise Says:

Wow, I never even knew this tool existed!

Now have my 4 external cals setup. Thanks heaps!

  3. Neil Johnston Says:

Fantastic! My 4 CalDAVs are installed beautifully. Thanks for the help!

  4. Tom Z Says:

Is there a way to configure this for a shared public calendars (like the one Google provides for US Holidays)??

See screenshot of US Holiday calendar settings:

    http://i42.tinypic.com/2wgvd5u.png

I’d like to add the US Holidays to my iPhone calendar…

  5. Bren Says:

Not sure what i am doing wrong but can’t get it to work. might be a silly question but does /user at the end mean exactly that or should I put a username there? I have been putting /user but I get a username password error . . . Any ideas? do the calendars need to have public sharing on?

    Bren

  6. Nathan de Vries Says:

@Tom Z: Instead of adding a CalDAV calendar, look for the option to add a “Subscribed Calendar” and use the ICS URL of the calendar you’d like to add. Using US Holidays as an example, you would enter “http://www.google.com/calendar/ical/usa__en%40holiday.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics”. This can be done in iCal and synced to the phone via iTunes, added manually via the iPhone Settings, or done via the instructions above for the iPhone Configuration Utility.

@Bren: The ”/user” suffix doesn’t get replaced with a username…that’s how the URL should look (”/events” also works). If you’re getting a username/password error, it’s likely that you’re not entering your full Google email address + password in those fields.

  7. Tom Z Says:

@Nathan – Thanks! I used the iPhone Config Utility and successfully added the subscribed calendar for US Holidays to my iPhone by followig your instructions! I was able to add 7 calendars to my iPhone (6 of my own, and 1 subscribed calendar). This was a great article – thanks for sharing!!

  8. CooLz Says:

you might want to add that when adding multiple calendars, it’s best to add the multiple CalDEV accounts under one profile name. For example, clicking on the “plus” logo in the top right of the CalDEV input area rather than clicking on the “New” Blue Checkmark in the top left of the utility.

I used “New” Blue checkmark, creating multiple profiles. This led me to a dilemma where i wanted to remove the installed profile to start over and do it the right way, but now for some reason it won’t let me remove the installed profile (either using the Config Utility or through the iPhone itself). I might have to restore now. bummer

  9. CooLz Says:

also… i have not been able to delete the “profiles” that are created using the Configuration Utility, using either the program or through the iphone itself.

this makes it a very unforgiving method, so i would highly recommend for all future users to use the initial method, and e-mailing yourself the links (to use copy and paste) makes it pretty simple!

  10. Chu Yeow Says:

Just did this, the iPhone Configuration Utility is awesome, thanks for pointing it out!

  11. Tom Z Says:

Ever since using the iPhone config utility, my iPhone is requiring encrypted backups when I sync with iTunes. I tried to turn it off, but the option is grayed out – any ideas how to turn off encrypted backups?

    See screenshot: http://i41.tinypic.com/2ikp5x.png

  12. Dennis Says:

@Tom Z: Adding US Holidays via iPhone CalDav will probably incur more network hits and slow down your calendar updates. Since holidays don’t change that much, it might be a good idea to subscribe to the US Holidays on Mac iCal and selectively sync that to your iPhone via the computer. Leave CalDav network calls to those that are prone to change.

@Nathan: Thanks for this article. I didn’t realize there was an ICU, and it makes things so much easier!

  13. Mark Says:

    Hi,

To remove a profile, click on settings > general and then scroll down to profiles where you can then uninstall it from.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks,

    Mark

  14. Michael Says:

Thanks, you’ve solved my calendar colour-coordination issue!

  15. Keely Says:

I have a weird little problem. My Google password doesn’t seem to work to authenticate on my iPhone’s CalDav. Yes, I’ve tried it many times and typed very, very carefully. Is there a trick with the Account/CalDav username or password that I don’t know (using [mygoogleaccount]@gmail.com and my gmail password.

  16. john_o Says:

I have a similar but slightly different question than Tom Z. Instead of subscribed calendars, what about syncing of shared google calendars? Based on what I see, I’m going to need the password of the person who shared their calendar with me. Is there a way around this?

  17. phrogz Says:

@john_o – I have the same question. I tried using the ICS of the shared calendar with my own username and password, but it seems not to have worked. I suppose I should try the CalDAV URL too, though I suspect that won’t work.

  18. ET Says:

If you are getting a Password error, make sure your account URL has “user@domain.com” instead of “user%40domain.com” in it. Mine had %40 and changing it to @ fixed the problem. Darn URL encoding.

  19. Nathan de Vries Says:

Shared calendars can be added as CalDAV calendars if the person who shared it with you gave you read/write access to it. You use your own Google Calendar credentials to authenticate.

If you’ve only been given read access to someone’s calendar, then you can use the ICS link to add it as a subscribed calendar.

  20. Nate Stowe Says:

I’ve managed to follow directions to the point where I’ve downloaded ICU and input the info for a subscription calendar from one of my department at work. When I tap install on the iphone i get this error message. “profile could not be validated, Calendar subscriptions missing host name.”

    Help!

  21. Jamie Says:

Thank you so much for taking the time to post these useful instructions!

  22. Kevin Says:

Thanks so much for this information.

    Question

I use google apps and synced my primary calendar with the exchange method outline on googles website.

But I was never able to add multiple calendars that I’ve subscribed to or belonged to.

How are these two methodologies different?

    Thanks again

    Kevin

  23. Timothy Says:

HOLY MOLY!!!! You just changed my life. Thanks! Tim

  24. Michael Says:

How are things. I have tried to set up 7 calendars using the iPhone configuration tool and 3.0 on iphone. I used www.google.com as my server settings and in google calenders i copied the calendar id, which was located next to the XML ICAL & HTML links. I entered my username and password and when i attempt to install on my iphone, I am getting error stating www.google.com is not responding. I tried a couple of times in the last few days and included @gmail.com on to the end of my username.

I am using Spanning Sync on my laptop to sync ical with google calendars. Could this cause a problem? Any Suggestions Please !!!!!!!!

  25. Matt Towers Says:

Thanks large for this tip! I’ve been struggling to find a solution to this problem for some time now. There are a bazillion posts related to this issue but all seem to be a hack, or require installing and running external tools continuously. Seems so obvious now that I get it. (sigh)

Really excited to play with ICU as well. Didn’t know it existed and/or was available to the public.

One problem I’ve seen (not really related to this directly) is that when I receive meeting requests and attempt to add them to my calendar, they go into a local calendar and cannot be moved to one provided by CalDAV.

I found a workaround which is to duplicate the event and paste it in to the correct calendar. Though if you want to RSVP, you must edit the event, and select “accept” even if it’s already set. This will give you the option to send a reply with your status.

    Cheers!

  26. Phil Bowell Says:

Thanks fro the guide, very useful.

I wondered if there was a way to stop my iPhone needing to be encrypted for back up? I don’t want this just normal back up works fine for me. How can I turn this off? It didn’t do it before I used your tutorial to set up the CalDAV calendars.

  27. Brian Sullivan Says:

For some reason, I can’t get this to work. In the settings for my Google calendar, I click on the private ICAL button and get a URL like this: http://www.google.com/calendar/ical/username%40gmail.com/private-bbddxxx9999/basic.ics

I’m not getting a URL like the one listed in this post. Am I suppose to just take the long alphanumeric string after the “private-” label and put it where you have <cal_id> listed?

  28. Fenwick Says:

Hi there – Thanks for your guide – fantastic! I was wondering – is there a way of showing all the calendars overlaying one another? In Google Calendars have have multiple calendars in the one view as I have separate people booking appts for me.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

  29. Jasper Says:

Thanks so much for this tutorial… this really made my iPhone Calendar much much better so now I don’t have anything to complain anymore regarding that

The only question that remains for me is: Why is my birthday calendar showing up with a bullet point on every day, even though there is no birthday that day. I have setup the birthday calendar in google calendar using the actual day of birth as starting day and then recurring every year. But now when I switch to month mode I see a bullet point for every day, list mode and day mode is working though

  30. Paige Says:

Wow! Thank you so much. I can’t tell you how many people say they have something working but don’t post HOW they got it working. This was awesome.

One tip though…make sure all the details are filled in correctly before you hit install. :)

  31. Gary Says:

I love it what a great solution thank you! I have one issue for some reason the calendars will not update unless I reboot my phone? anyone have a suggestion?

  32. Patrick Harvey Says:

I have tried this, but when I upload information for my “Clients” calendar, the information from another calendar pops up…..When I paste in the address for a specific calendar, should I use XML, ICAL or HTML? Very frustrating, please help!!

  33. Patrick Says:

also, how do I erase an install profile? I have tried deleting the iphone utility, but the profile still exists on the iphone and it doesn’t work?!!

  34. Patrick Says:

it only lets me use “www.google.com” as a server. Once I paste something in there and move to the next line, it erases and autocorrects to “www.google.com” I’m terribly upset about this, I have spent a considerable part of last night and today trying to figure this out with no luck whatsoever. Apple has failed miserably in this regard…this should be seamless!

  35. Luis Says:

Nathan: Need help!. How do you delete a Profile Name from within the Utility?. My install didn’t work and now I have a Calendar on my phone that I can’t delete (no red delete option on phone settings…) Thank you

  36. Andy Smith Says:

This was extremely clear and helpful—which is more than I can say for the Google or Apple documentation on this subject. Thank you!

  37. Celine Says:

i keep on getting the “username or password are incorrect” warning…i am sure the username, which is my e-mail, and password are all typed in correctly, and i got rid of the %40 and instead typed in @, but i still get this error message…HELP PLEASE!

  38. Carl Stephenson Says:

Thanks so much for the walk-thru! Now I can subscribe to my wife’s calendar. It worked perfectly the first time (we use google calendar and used the .ics server format)

  39. Scott Says:

patrick, i get the same thing, i pasted the entire line and then when i go to user name, the server line defaults to google.com. is it possible that you need the iphone 3.0 to enable more than one calendar? it works great for the first calendar.

  40. Jp Says:

Thanks a lot, i was searching to do this for weeks, and your solution works perfectly !!!

  41. JW Says:

    Thanks—that’s very helpful!

  42. Chad Says:

I too want to thank you immensely! I have been trying dozens of different methods after researching this for months! I can’t believe there was such a simple solution. Thank you.

  43. Skyler Says:

Wow, thank you so much. This was a little confusing being new to the ICU tool and all, but your walkthrough was great. Thanks again.

  44. Shad Says:

@patrick – i had the same “problem” that the server name field kept reverting to www.google.com. But I just accepted it and verified the account. Then I went back to the new calendar settings, went to Advanced Settings and the correct URL was in the Account URL field. All is good.

  45. simplyRik Says:

For those who were having the password/user account error. I found that after the calendar ID, make sure you have the following:

    That fixed it for me.

  46. simplyRik Says:

I was trying to add the following but the code didn’t accept it. In short with password/username errors, use the following immediately after the calendar ID. ‘at symbol’ group ‘dot’ calendar ‘dot’ google ‘dot’ com

  47. Kenny Says:

I’ve done it right everytime and it says everytime cannot connect to www.google.com so i say ignore… if i say try again it says it can’t connect again over and over and over again!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been having troubles with gmail and google voice got the past couple of days now!!!!!!!!! Please help

  48. Stephen Says:

make sure you calendars begin https:// the “s” is vital when using ssl methinks. it fixed my user/pass incorrect problem anyway.

  49. Jason V Says:

Question: I’ve followed the instructions for using ICU to add calendars to the phone, and that worked fine. But I have 2 personal calendars in my personal account, and 4 calendars in my work account. When I did this, it installed the main calendars, but not the others. Was that by design? Do I need to add those separately? How do I find the webdav address for those other calendars?

    Thanks.

  50. John Says:

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this! This has saved me =)

  51. Sirdaf Says:

Thanks! Works like a charm with my 6 Google calendars and my company Exchange contacts/calendars I included in the profile. This saved me like hours of work were I to do the same manually on my Iphone!

    Cheers

  52. Laura Says:

I also am having the error “could not contact server” https://www.google.com is not responding. ... any insight? i’ve tried many times ;(

otherwise, was able to set up just fine … except, do we need to enter acct usernames and passwords as it says optional.

    Thanks!

  53. Eelco Says:

    Brilliant! Thanks :)

  54. Bill R. Says:

This was a big help. Thanks!!

  55. cmyr Says:

just a last fix for people with the ‘incorrect username/password’ error: make sure that there are no spaces at the end of your calendar’s address, apparently they don’t get ignored. This one took me a while to figure out…

  56. mech Says:

thanks man. this works like magic, well almost :)

had some trouble removing all of my 10 calendars from my iPhone before trying this method. I ended up syncing with a “Home iCal”, which I never use. This removed all of them eventually.

then your method with the ICU worked great! took a while to enter all 10 calendars!!!

Cmon apple. where is my Bluetooth sync which my old Nokia had???

    cheers

  57. Joe C Says:

Thanks!! Helped me out big time

  58. Nick D Says:

A few have mentioned a problem where during the install phase an error pops up on the iPhone saying that it could not connect to www.google.com or www.google.com is not responding. I had this problem initially and it turns out the solution is that I incorrectly entered some configuration data into the fields for one of my calendars. If one calendar configuration is wrong, then it doesn’t seem to handle that error and the rest of the calendars die too. If you follow the instructions at the top of this page exactly how they are given, it works perfectly.

My mistake was putting my <cal_id> into the Principal URL field instead of putting the full URL like this:

    https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/<cal_id>/user

You have to replace <cal_id> with the Calendar ID, which looks like:

    randomString@group.calendar.google.com

    So it will become:

    https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/randomString@group.calendar.google.com/user

The way to test if you need to enter a username and password or not is to paste the above URL into your browser when you are LOGGED OUT of gmail/google calendar. If it gives you a valid calendar, you don’t need the username and password. It is also a helpful method just to test your URL in the first place. If it doesn’t work, either you need a username and password, or it is wrong.

    enjoy!

  59. Andrea Negro Says:

Hello, and many many thanks for these tips! My calendars perfectly work with calDAV, but I’m struggling with the shared ones (national holidays, and expecially contacts’ birthdays). I put the ICAL link (ending with the basic.ics) in the profile under the subscribed calendars and my user/pw in the fields. I then install the profile, and everything goes fine, the calendard shows in the list of available ones… but in the end, this is empty, it does not show any entry! I tried removing credentials, tried to change the %23 and %40 with # and @, but up to now… no user/pw problems, but nothing showing up. Any hint to help???? ThanksSSSS!

  60. Rina Says:

Hi, thanks so much for the great info and taking the time to publish! I have reached the step where I have entered all my accounts in CalDAV, but they are not appearng within the iPhone Configuration Profiles page. I also noticed, they do not appear in the top section of the cofiguation profiles when entering into the CalDAV page. Is there a step I am missing to move them over, or enter them correctly?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

  61. Cheryl Says:

    Hi,

these tips have been great in my quest for the portable family calendar! I have the CalDAV accounts successfully installed and having the same issue that Andrea is.

How does one get subscribed calendars to show up? I copied and pasted the private link to the basic.ics file into the ICU and my subscribed calendar also shows up blank.

If Carl is still out there and can share what he was able to do to subscribe to his wife’s calendar, that would be most appreciated! Thank you!

Hi Rina. When you’re in the configuration profiles mode, you’ll only see the list of available profiles at the top of the page and when you select the type of data like CalDAV, you should see a long list of each individual detailed entry for each CalDAV account. Assuming you have everything typed in and you are comfortable with what is presented, you’ll need to plug your iphone in. The iphone will show up as a separate entry in the list on the left. When you click on the iphone and on the configuration tab, the list of available profiles will be presented and you’ll be given the option to install the profile. Be sure to hit install on the iphone when the appropriate screen appears and your calDAV calendars should show up assuming the data is ok. Hope that helps.

  62. Victor Says:

I am having the same problem as Andrea Negro. The calendar is added flawlessly but it does not show any event. I have tried just to verify it, that if I get the HTML link for the calendar and I paste it on a web browser where I have previously logged in with my gmail account, I can see the calendar. If I do the same on a new browser (that is, not logged to gmail), they I see the calendar empty (sounds about right, cos the data in there is private). On the iPhone I use the ICAL link, I enter my credentials on the fields, but I still see the calendar empty.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

  63. Jason Says:

Does anyone know how to setup the new sports team calendars Google added? Following the steps above I was able to add the US Holidays as a subscribed calendar, but no ICS link shows up on the sports calendars, only an HTML link.

For example, I am trying to sync the schedule for the LSU Tigers. I add a new CALDAV account, and on the advanced page I paste in the following:

    https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/ncaaf_76_%4c%53%55+%54igers#sports@group.v.calendar.google.com/user

However, when I go back and check the settings, it gets changed to:

    https://www.google.com:443/calendar/dav/ncaaf_76_LSU+Tigers

Neither one show up in my calendar on my iPhone.

  64. pablo Says:

    dude, your tutorial rocks!

  65. Peter Says:

    How do you remove profiles?

I installed one that gave me the user/pass error and then I tried to remove it but I got an error that I couldn’t. The problem may be that I forgot to give that profile an identifier name.

Is there any other way to remove a profile?

    Thanks,

  66. Peter Says:

Well I figured what was wrong. First you can delete your profile on your iPhone by going into the general settings and scrolling down.

The calendars I was adding were the new sports ones, those were the ones giving me problems. birthday, holidays and mine were fine. There is something just not working well with the sport calendars.

I pretty much have the same problem as Jason.

  67. Laney Kusterer Says:

Thank you so much!!!! I’ve been trying for three days to get all of my calendars to show up correctly. I was starting to get really frustrated because it wasn’t nearly as hard on my old blackberry. This was quick and easy and I didn’t get a million messages telling me I typed my password wrong! Thank you!!!!

  68. David Doudna Says:

The problem with iTunes now saying this iPhone requires an encrypted backup seems be the result of (quoting from Apple’s Enterprise Deployment Guide):

“Important: If the device being backed up has any encrypted profiles installed, iTunes requires the user to enable backup encryption.”

    and

“When you install directly onto a device using USB, the configuration profile is automatically signed and encrypted before being transferred to the device.”

Now I’m wishing I’d read all the website feedback first before trying this method. Looks like I’m back to having to tediously enter all the CalDAV info in via the little touch screen…

  69. Mark Says:

Like Nate Stowe, I also got message “Profile could not be validated, Calendar subscriptions missing host name.” In ICU go to General (Mandatory) and fill in the fields. It then works, at least for me.

  70. Adrie Says:

For me, everything works well… Except for the fact that every item in every calendar has got alerts on it. These cannot be changed or deleted from the iPod side

  71. RobinHoodTechs Says:

i got this to work after spending 4 hours trying to solve the validating issues and cannot connect to google.com error msgs but after following Nick D’s comments it finally worked ! must have been something to do with just copying and pasting :S in the end im happy i got this to work :D

    thanks all..but especially Nick D

  72. Chris Says:

I try to do this, but I get a error: “identifier not specified” what is wrong?

  73. Mdusing Says:

@Chris I had the same iss just copy the identifier from your phone after you plug it in and then out that in the identifier field for your configuration profile.

My problem now is that when I sync these calendars don’t show up in iCal. So then I added the google CalDEVs to iCal and now I am getting double for the main calendar on my phone after sync. How do I only get the main calendar to show once on my phone?

  74. brian k. Says:

Took 5 minutes to set this up with 4 google calendars across 2 accounts. Very handy. Thanks. Now, if I could just get www.mailseat.com to activate LDAP so I can get access to the company global address book. :-/

  75. Lex Says:

@Jasper, Adrie: The dots are caused by recurring events starting before Dec 12, 1932 (eg. birthdays for some elderly people). Edit those events in gCal and the problem should be resolved. It worked for me. See this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2049299&start=30&tstart=0

  76. Katie Says:

I’m still having problems getting the sports calendars from google to show up on my iPhone. I’ve tried making them a ‘subscribed calendar’ rather than a ‘CalDav’ on the ICU, but no luck. It looks like it’s installing, but just clocks and clocks on my phone when the profile is installing. I don’t get any errors, just the clocking. Any ideas?

  77. Stan Says:

Thanks to all, but I still need help. I am trying to sync my wife’s iphone to my google cal. I continue to get a user id/pw pop up and then it tells me that the verification failed. Can someone help me understand what each of the fields needs to have in it? One issue might be that her email is yahoo.

  78. Greg F.M. Says:

The following URL let’s you select which calendars you want to see on your iPhone:

    http://www.google.com/calendar/iphoneselect

  79. g Says:

slightly off topic, but has anyone had trouble getting their iPhone calendar to appear in Google Calendar?

i’m using CALDAV to sync my iPhone and Google calendars.

everything shows up on my iPhone perfectly. i’m able to add events through my iPhone as well as Google Calendar. i can also add events TO my Google Calendar through my iPhone and they sync immediately.

however, my local iPhone calendar does not show up in Google Calendar at all. every other sync seems to be working correctly, it’s just my iPhone calendar that will not show online.

    any thoughts? future thanks.

  80. Jasper Says:

@Lex: thanks for the heads up, that was exactly the problem. My grandpa’s birthday was causing the bug to occur and when I took it out it was fine.

Hopefully Apple will resolve the issue in a future update :)

  81. alex Says:

    Thank you so much.

It works fine on my iphone. Even the korean holidays too :D

  82. Sean Says:

Thank you all. Worked as advertised.

  83. Emilio Says:

If I use the ICU application will it change all my settings or just add the CalDav settigs? all all previuos settings will remain unchanged? Thanks

  84. Josh Says:

    Hi there,

When I hit install on my iPhone, I get an error for each calendar, it says…

    Unable to Verify Certificate

The certificate from “www.google.com” for account “Calendar Name” could not be verified

    Hi there,

I keep getting an error when I open up iCal on my iPhone, it says…

    Unable to Verify Certificate

The certificate from “www.google.com” for account “Calendar Name” could not be verified

I can then have the option to “accept” or “cancel”

I accept, and it transfers all my calendars to my iPhone, but any edit I make to my google calendar does not sync with the phone, even though the phone supposably “syncs”.

Anyone have a fix for this? Pleeeease!

Ok, First off : THANK YOU! I would like to clear up a few things: (these have been posted, but in various comments, so I am grouping them) 1. in ICU you MUST fill in the GENERAL (Mandatory) info, otherwise nothing works and you receive an error like: “identifier could not be verified” 2. https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/<cal_id>/user

You have to replace <cal_id> with the Calendar ID, which looks like:

    randomString@group.calendar.google.com

    So it will become:

    https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/randomString@group.calendar.google.com/user

If you do this (basically, if you follow the instructions!) it works!

Again thanks… I was really starting to loose hope.
